Book

Another post, huh? well this time I'm writing about a book that my teacher Ms. Tabor recommended to me. I always enjoy getting recommendations, and make sure to read whatever I'm given, even if the idea doesn't appeal to me at first. Anyway, the book I'm writing about is called "Little Brother" by Cory Doctorow. The main character is a seventeen year old high school student named Marcus Yallow. As a hacker, he has broken a few laws in his life, but after convincing his friend Darryl to skip school, a massive terrorist attack takes place on the Bay Bridge. The national protection services such as the CIA and FBI take them in for questioning. I think the reason i like this book so far is because it's not the kind of story I see everyday. Also it's not the sort of thing I would usually pick up if i saw it at the book store or in the library. After reading the first few pages though, i have to say i found it at the very least gripping. by the end of the second chapter i wanted to keep reading it and figure out what might happen to these characters. I may have mentioned this before in one of my posts but i believe that good characters are really what makes a story worth reading. If I feel disinterested in the characters i don't care what happens to them. But in this book I thought that while all the characters had their flaws and imperfections, they were all generally appealing to read about and learn more about. I didn't find any of them particularly one sided or plain. I could also relate to a lot of the interests they have. Harajuku fun madness sounds pretty cool.

Book 3

Well here we are again. This week I'll be posting about a book called Maximum Ride: Saving the world and other extreme sports. This is actually the third book in a series, called Maximum Ride by james patterson. I personally really like these books because of the characters. I like how they all have flaws and seem so real as humans. Or not in this case. Maybe it's just a personal preference, but I get very bored with a book if I don't think the characters are appealing, perfect, or interesting in general. To me, a story is written more by the characters personalities than the author once they've been created. The characters in this particular series are appealing to me because none of them are perfect, they all have flaws, but they all have qualities that makes me like them. Having characters that are just mean or unpleasant are also no fun to read about. Max is the leader and the main character of the book. She may be a little headstrong, and make some bad decisions, but she really is the best choice to be a leader. She loves everyone in the group, or flock, and really does to the right thing in the end.shes also a lot of fun to read about.
